What makes Secure Drops different
Most file-sharing tools create a permanent copy of your data that lives on a server indefinitely. Secure Drops takes the opposite approach: every drop is built to expire. When you share a message or a file, you control exactly how long it remains available and how many times it can be opened. Once your chosen expiry is reached, or once the download limit is used up, the drop is automatically deleted from storage. Nothing lingers that you did not intend to leave behind.
This matters because the biggest risk with online sharing is not the file you send — it is the copies that stay around afterwards. Email attachments sit in inboxes and archives. Cloud links remain active for years. A self-destructing share removes that risk at the source by giving every piece of content a built-in end of life.
How PIN-protected sharing works
Security without friction is the goal. When you create a drop, the service generates a randomized PIN that is used to unlock the content. You share that PIN with your recipient, and the drop can only be opened with it. The PIN provides an extra layer beyond a shared link, so even if a link is forwarded or discovered, the content stays protected behind a code that only you and your recipient know.
For registered users, secure messaging adds an extra layer of convenience alongside file drops. You can keep trusted contacts, send encrypted messages, and track unread activity — all within an interface designed around privacy-first defaults.
Who is Secure Drops for?
Secure Drops is built for anyone who shares sensitive information and wants more control over where it ends up. Professionals send confidential documents and contracts. Teams share files with automatic deletion for compliance. Individuals share passwords, personal records, and one-time messages without leaving permanent copies in chat logs or email archives.
Whether you are a guest sharing a quick drop without an account, or a premium user handling larger files with extended expiry, every share benefits from the same principle: your data should not live forever unless you choose to keep it.
